Zwevegem
For a commercial building in Zwevegem, we designed an extension in the form of a corridor for the existing funeral home, where calm and identity come together. The brief was to create a contemporary architectural language that supports the operation of the business while reflecting an appropriate atmosphere.
The design is based on a clear architectural language centered on calm and simplicity. The extension is restrained and understated, with a material palette that conveys discretion. Circulation was thoroughly analyzed and optimized so that visitors move intuitively and serenely through the building. The interior concept complements this approach, with soft transitions, tactile materials, and balanced natural light. Spaces requiring visibility — such as the shop — and zones requiring discretion were carefully considered. The architecture facilitates use while embracing this duality.
We also designed the exterior landscaping. The site has a pronounced change in level, which is gradually accommodated through circulation that meets all accessibility standards. This creates a natural transition between landscape and building, between exterior and interior.
A place where architecture does not speak, but is quietly present
—
in service of mourning and ritual. Architecture in service of the business activity.
